Last Sunday Sutherland took on Parramatta in a Semi-final of the NSW Cricket’s Inter-Association Gee Shield (under 13s). Parramatta won the toss and batted to be 1 for 19 when play was washed out. Unfortunately for Sutherland, Parramatta’s higher position on the table means that the local side misses out on next week’s final. Close battles for final spots in local junior cricket
After seven rounds of the ten round competitions, there are close tussles for the final two spots in most of the 16s and 14s competitions of Sutherland junior cricket. The top 16A grade is the most competitive with three teams, Caringbah 1, Engadine 1 and Illawong Menai 1 all on 29 points with St Patricks 1 still not out of the running on 23.
In the 16Bs Como Jannali 1 (33 pts), Illawong Menai 2 (29) and Miranda 1 (25) are the top three. However, in the 16Cs while Engadine (36) seems to have one spot wrapped up, four other teams Aquinas 1 (25), Illawong Menai 3 (22), Gymea Bay (21) and St Patricks 2 (21) are fighting for the second spot in the final.
In the 14As St Patricks 1 (36), Engadine 1 (32) and Illawong Menai 2 (31) are in contention for the final. The finals in all grades will be played on March 8 and 15. Love your junior cricket? Want to tour USA & WI?
