Five local teams still in contention as soccer’s Champion of Champions

At the end of each junior and amateur soccer season knockout Champion of Champion tournaments are held between winners of the various grades from football associations across NSW. So far 5 local teams have progressed to the semi-final stage on October 12.

Of the local clubs, Lilli Pilli has two teams in the semi-finals while Menai Hawks, Sylvania Heights and Bosco have one each. The results of quarter finals and the draw for the semi-finals for local clubs on Sunday October 12 follows:

Under 15 Men:
Q/F: Lilli Pilli 0 Penrith 0 with Lilli Pilli winning 5-3 on penalties  
S/F: Lilli Pilli v Peakhurst United; Ray Marshall at 11.30am

Under 16 Men:
Q/F: Lilli Pilli 1 Mt Annan Mustangs 0
S/F: Lilli Pilli v Eastwood St Andrews; Valentine Sports Park at 4.30pm

Under 21 Men:
Q/F: Menai Hawks 7 Hazelbrook 0
S/F: Menai Hawks v Carlingford Redbacks; Ray Marshall at 3pm

Over 35 Men:
Q/F: Sylvania Heights 5 Glenmore Park 0
S/F: Sylvania Heights v West Ryde Rovers; Ray Marshall, 3pm

Under 18 Women:
Q/F: Bosco 2 Eschol Park 1
S/F: Bosco v Unanderra; Ray Marshall, 1.15pm

Community Fun Run/Walk

Pounded the pavement in July’s Sutherland to Surf? It's time to feel the sand between the toes in one, of both of the events below. Prizes are up for grabs in both events for males, females, over 40s and under 18s.

8KM Beach Run & Walk. Wanda to Boat Harbour and back. Start - 9:00am

2KM Soft Sand Run. Start - 11:00am

Surf Life Saving’s 2008 National Leadership Challenge

Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is now seeking enrolment applications for places at the 2008 National Leadership College to be held at Sydney University, 1 - 6 December 2008. SLSA has created a new 'college' style of leadership training specially designed for its members. SLSA promises participants will spend six amazing days with their Surf Life Saving mates, will learn a lot about leadership but probably more about themselves.

Participants will be bursting with ideas and confidence and they will know exactly how to direct that energy when they get back to their club, and what would a week of college be without some challenging activities, fun and games.
