Sutherland Sharks Sting the Hornets
Last Saturday night the Sharks played host to the Hills Hornets who despite having only 1 win for the season, managed to achieve that win against one of the best teams in the league in impressive fashion. So if there was one thing on the Sharks’ minds it was not to underestimate their opponent.
From the outset the Hornets set the pace taking an early lead while the Sharks tried to find their rhythm. Great play by Blake Henricks inside kept the Sharks in the game along with some excellent ball movement and solid offence.
The second half saw a variety of Sharks step up like Blake Stroh controlling the point or Stephen Hall stroking the three. The Sharks took command of the game and the lead as they kept the Hornets to a 15 point quarter.
The Hornets responded as they lifted their defence to test the Sharks as the final quarter ran down. However the Sharks showed their composure and held onto the lead and managed to secure the victory 82-74 taking their record to 5 wins and 1 loss, sitting quietly in second place in the competition. Top Scorers were Blake Henricks 23pts Steven Hall 14pts and Luke Davies 11pts.
